Allan is head of the LMI Group of loss management, risk assessment and technical advisers, and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law and Justice, Victoria University, Australia. For over 45 years he has managed large and complex losses all around the globe. He has developed several knowledge-based services to assist brokers and underwriters and his business continuity management system, ContinuityCoach.com, is now used in over 125 countries. Allan is one of Australia’s most academically qualified insurance professionals. He has delivered over 1,250 papers on insurance and risk management topics and is the author of 12 books on insurance. He is currently president of the International Institute of Claims Preparers and has been ranked in the top 20 most influential people in Australian insurance for the past six years by insuranceNEWS. He was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award at the 2012 Insurance Industry Awards and honorary life membership of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Together with Greg Pynt of Francis Burt Chambers, Perth, Allan was the promoter and inspiration behind the highly innovative Carter v Boehm 250th Anniversary Conference on utmost good faith in insurance, held in Bengkulu, Sumatra in 2016.
