Jerònia is a Reader in Economic History at the University of Seville. She is Spain’s leading insurance historian and has been a key figure in several international projects in the field. Jerònia had the original idea for this conference and has carried out most of the planning for it to date. In addition to authoring articles in several leading journals, she has edited with Maria Angeles Pons Investigaciones Históricas sobre el Seguro Español (Fundación Mapfre, 2009); and contributed chapters to Internationalisation and Globalisation of the Insurance Industry in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries (Philipps-University, Marburg, 2007) edited by Peter Borscheid and Robin Pearson; The Development of International Insurance (Pickering and Chatto, 2010), edited by Robin Pearson; and World Insurance (Oxford University Press, 2012) edited by Peter Borscheid and Niels Viggo Haueter. She has also published on social insurance in The Appeal of Insurance (Toronto University Press, 2010) edited by Geoffrey Clark, and in Welfare and Old Age in Europe and North America (Pickering and Chatto, 2012) edited by Bernard Harris. Recently she completed a book on Spanish insurance history sponsored by Fundación Mapfre, Madrid.
